Theresa and Her Lions

I gave these lions to Theresa a very long time ago as a Valentine's present; she loved big cats and little cats.
She had a pure Tonkinese tomcat for ten years, and really loved him.
I carried these lions to Washington State and back, and put them here first thing when I arrived back in Enid.

Many people decorate their crypts, especially the ones in the mausoleum (most of them) with shelves in front; I had to put this little "shrine" to Theresa at the foot of her panel, which is located at about face height. So it is possible, as with ordinary outside graves, to decorate the memorial of the departed loved one. I have added many more pictures of her; almost all of them are at least 33 years old, and most of them are 37 and 36 years old. Most people leave flowers in vases; one recent interment of a loved one had his or her family decorate his or her crypt with some toys and stuffed animals, in addition to flowers.

I named Theresa's lions after the two free-standing bronze pillars on the porch of Solomon's Great Temple in Jeruselam; the one on the north (right- the crypt faces east, just as Solomon's Temple did) is "Boaz", and the one on the south is "Joachim". They are the guardians of her crypt.

Theresa succumbed to her terminal illness "in her own way". She had watched her aunt die of this hereditary disease, and knew what a terrible fate awaited her. At the end, she was full of despair, fear, and frustration; this latter, because every day there was some new simple thing she could not do for herself. That was what I was there for!
